Joint-School DSE Visual Arts Mock Examination

A total of 49 visual arts students from St. Louis School, St. Stephen’s College, Kowloon True Light School and Ying Wa Girls’ School took part in the Joint-School DSE Visual Arts Mock Examination (Paper I).  Thanks to all VA teachers of the schools mentioned, students could be better equipped for the public examination, such as the necessary examination skills, strategies and proper etiquette expected.

Draw HK Community Art Project

Fourteen visual arts students participated in the Draw HK Community Art Project organised by the Hong Kong Youth Arts Foundation.  Students attended workshops by local artist Ms Karen Pow in January 2019.  In addition, students took part in on-site mural painting in March at PMQ Marketplace & Courtyard.  They enjoyed the valuable experience in transferring their unique design on a brilliant blue wood panel and painting decorative patterns.  It was indeed a fascinating and fruitful experience to learn visual arts outside the classroom.

Last Day in Decanting Campus of Sham Shui Po

Champion - The HKFYG English Public Speaking Contest

Rudaba Rubaiyath (S3) took home the Champion in the Grand Final of the HKFYG English Public Speaking Contest, jointly organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and the English Speaking Union (Hong Kong).  In her winning speech, she analysed reasons why Hong Kong people had become less happy in recent years and gave tips on how we could live a happy life.

The contest aims at enhancing young people’s public speaking and communication competences, as well as their abilities to think critically.

Exchange Programme with South Korean Youths

The History Department of Ying Wa Girls’ School, together with the Extra-curricular Committee of Ying Wa College and the Youth Exchange Unit of The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG), joined hands together to organise an exchange programme with Korean students on 23rd February at the HKFYG Leadership Institute at Fanling.  The site of the HKFYG Leadership Institute is the former Fanling Magistracy, which was revitalised as a base for the HKFYG to train youth leaders of Hong Kong now.   In the exchange programme, selected students of both schools went on a guided tour to understand the roles played by the former Fanling Magistracy and Hong Kong heritage.

High Achievers’ Award Ceremony 2019

The outstanding accomplishments of students in both academic and non-academic fields were recognized at the High Achievers’ Award Ceremony on 20th February.  Students from S.1 – S.5 with outstanding academic results received recognition for their diligence and dedication to their studies.  They are indeed exemplars of their peers.  Students’ achievements in other areas such as computer programming and current affairs were also recognised at the Ceremony.

Farewell Assembly 2019

Talk by Dr Chong Shuk Ching

Dr Chong Shuk Ching, an alumna of Ying Wa, was invited to deliver a talk during the morning assembly on 13 Feb.  In 2018, Dr Chong was awarded the Ten Outstanding Young Persons 2018.
