Principal's Welcome

YWGS is not only the abbreviation of the school's name, but also an acronym for "Yes, We Go and Serve". Our school aims to nurture in our students the belief that they can lead with confidence, work in harmony and serve with humility in whatever corner of the world they may find themselves in future.

Mr. Francis Kwan

A warm welcome to Ying Wa Girls' School ("Ying Wa") - Ever since its founding in 1900 by Miss Helen Davies of the former London Missionary Society, Ying Wa has been providing girls from all strata of society with a holistic education.  We have been steadfast in fulfilling the noble aim of our Founder: to nurture responsible and confident leaders with the humility to serve.

We have always adopted the best of both worlds, as suggested by the name of our school: ‘Ying’ (Anglo) and ‘Wa’ (Chinese).  Both Chinese and English cultures shape our curriculum and school life.

Our high quality education creates learning opportunities to cater to the diverse needs of our students in a changing world.  Our programmes cultivate in our students a positive and healthy attitude towards life as well as enhance their sense of responsibility to themselves, and commitment to the school and family.  Every graduate understands her duty to contribute to the Hong Kong community, China and the world in the future.

Our enrolment has grown from a handful to over one thousand students today, thanks to the faith of the community in our work.  It gives us great satisfaction, after more than a century, to observe that our graduates have continued to be guided by the Christian spirit – to serve and not to be served.

I look forward to welcoming you into our community.

Francis Kwan
