About ‘To My 19-Year-old Self’

Helmed by our distinguished alumni and internationally acclaimed director Ms. Cheung Yuen Ting Mabel, ‘To My 19-Year-old Self’ is a film that chronicles the growth of a unique group of Ying Wa students through their journey in secondary school – from their time in the old Robinson Road Campus to the decanting school in Sham Shui Po. The film is an up-close and honest account of the coming of age of these youngsters who have blossomed into vibrant and resilient individuals during their time in Ying Wa.

This large-scale project, which has spanned over a decade, is an ambitious undertaking to create a lasting record of Ying Wa at a pivotal moment of its history, and one that surely resonates to all of us as we reminisce about the fleeting yet blissful period of our youth. This film is a riveting showcase of the trials and tribulations, the dreams and aspirations, and the memories and friendships made during adolescence and one that surely can’t be missed!

Fundraising Movie Gala

All proceeds from the fundraising movie gala will go towards raising funds for student development. Our target is set at 8 million HKD and will be utilized in supporting initiatives and offering educational experiences that include but are not limited to the following:

Enhancing students’ confidence and resilience through public speaking, debate, and MC opportunities. Through these training and experiences, we encourage students to be better informed about global issues, be more daring to tackle these issues, and have the resilience to face and rise up from setbacks.
Preparing students to handle the increasingly complex and evolving world with enhanced knowledge and creative problem-solving. This is achieved through investing in STEM education experiences such as Virtual Reality (VR) and Augmented Reality (AR) immersion, coding, and aerial photography.
Raising students’ awareness and cultivating attitudes and habits for sustainable living through energy and food conservation projects and maintaining a roof-top garden to promote eco-friendly living.
Ensuring the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of students through mindfulness, and positive education. Students will also be introduced to a wider variety of sports and physical activities to encourage an active and fit lifestyle.
Nurturing within our students the Christian faith and values that enable them to make good choices in life and to serve others in need. Examples of these initiatives include the Prayer Campaign by the Christian Fellowship, social service-learning projects and the S4 Outward Bound course.

Here at Ying Wa, we strive to ensure that our school is well-positioned to meet the challenges of the contemporary society and continue to scale new heights to be a school of the future. We also wish to honour the vision of our founders to nurture successive generations of students with an all-rounded, Christian ethos.
