Speech Day 2012

The annual Speech Day was held on July 10, 2012 at the Silcocks Hall.  Our Principal, Mrs Ruth Lee, welcomed parents and congratulated all Secondary 6 and 7 graduates on their successful completion of secondary education.  This year, it was special to have the first cohort of Secondary 6 students taking the Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education Examination (HKDSE) and the last batch of Secondary 7 students participated in the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), witnessing a milestone for Hong Kong’s secondary education from seven-year to six-year studies.

Among the honourable guests were Mr Siu Kwing Chue, Gordan, CBE, GBS, JP and his wife, Mrs Cynthia L.Y. Wong Siu.  Mr Siu gave an inspirational speech on our annual Speech Day about his background, careers and aspirations.  He encouraged YW girls to be courageous and getting ready to shine and serve in the future.  Followed by Mr Siu’s speech, Mrs Siu presented certificates to our graduates and scholarship holders in academics, sports, music, and other disciplines. 

Towards the end, Ma Ming Yan (6B) delivered her valedictorian speech on behalf of the graduating classes.  She expressed appreciation to the school for nurturing and supporting girls of different backgrounds, characters and abilities.  The Senior Choir drew the ceremony to a close and filled all guests, teachers and graduates with sweet memories.
