十年前，評論家葉輝說，那是他第五次細讀《剪紙》，他還說，《剪紙》是一個不斷生長的故事，每讀一次都有不同形貌不同角度的的新發現，它是一棵隨氣候季節和年齡變形的植物，生長出一些現象與幻象相涉的想像。董啓章則說閱讀《剪紙》的文本經驗不單來自剪紙的多重對立含義，也來自《剪紙》小說的寫法。
這堪稱一部香港文學的經典作品，自一九七七年小說在報紙連載到二零一二年牛津新版，三十多年的感情和形式，以及我們的社會和我們閱讀習慣，都發生了很大的變化，我們能從《剪紙》再獲得怎麼樣的靈感呢？
