改編不只是增多刪減或是借用或是忠於原著的轉換手段，情況似乎更加複雜，尤其連結到風格、影像、鏡頭、場面調度、人物塑造、音樂運用、場景設定等範疇。文學和電影是兩種不同的藝術媒介，最好的改編，通常不是搬字過紙的簡單改編，而是有所轉化，可是藝術深度愈強，轉化功夫愈難，所以愈好的作品愈難改編。
