在大眾市民的心目中，醫生向來都給人高高在上、權威的感覺。但本書的作者，卻以見習醫生的身分，打破了這個假象。
知廣除了記下他在實習期間的悲喜苦樂，也提出了好些發人深省的問題和現象，例如政府醫院處理精神病人的手法、見習醫生與主診醫生的矛盾等。雖只廖廖數語，卻是言簡意賅，切中弊端。
這本書是促進醫生和病人溝通的橋樑。
