Ying Wa has raised private funding to build extra facilities to help accomplish our long cherished education mission. Such add-on facilities – termed Phase 2 of the redevelopment project – will be provided in the extended campus (“Site B”, the former Nethersole Hospital site). They will include an auditorium with a seating capacity of 200, reading cum prayer rooms, music practice rooms and a Campus TV Studio. Currently we are working on the detail internal design, and aim to complete this phase of work alongside Phase 1 (i.e. main campus with standard government provisions).

To witness the gradual transformation of the school site, recent photos capturing the progress are shared here below.

Walk an Extra Mile for Ying Wa

In her last year of service as Principal in Ying Wa, Mrs Ruth Lee initiated “Walk an Extra Mile for Ying Wa” (重建路赤足行) as part of this year’s Sponsored Walk held on 22 November. While the main route remained unchanged, a team of 396 comprising the Principal, 372 students, 9 Excom members of the PTA and 14 teachers walked bare foot around Lugard Road from the Peak, an extended part of the route. With overwhelming responses, about $720,000 was raised. Deducting a pre-set donation of $270,000 to local and overseas charitable bodies – a practice to upkeep the original spirit of giving associated with the much cherished tradition, the rest will be put into the School Redevelopment Fund.

Ever heard of a bazaar in Ying Wa?

A working team has just been formed to organize a fundraising bazaar in November 2015. To make it more attractive and fund-generating, the bazaar will target higher-end goods for sale such as private labelled handbags, costume jewellery and branded jeans. The working team is in need of ideas and sources of goods, in particular referrals of manufacturers and/or agents of consumer goods suitable for sale in the bazaar. If you can help, please contact Cherry So in our School Office (2546 3151, ext. 105).
