NOI 2019 – Cheng Tsz Ying (Hong Kong Team)

Cheng Tsz Ying (S5E) participated in the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics Competition in December 2018 and was awarded the gold medal.  She was then invited by the organisers, the Hong Kong Computer Society and the Education Bureau, to undergo further training on computational problem solving and programming skills.  In May 2019, due to Tsz Ying’s outstanding performance in the selection process, she was selected to represent Hong Kong in the National Olympiad in Informatics 2019 (NOI 2019) from 14 to 20 July 2019 in Guangzhou along with other Hong Kong Team representatives.

HKCCC Inter-school Badminton Competition – Champion

The Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China (HKCCCC) organised an inter-school sports competition for all the HKCCCC schools and affiliated schools.  Our Badminton Team members had outstanding performance and won the following: List of Awards Singles – Champion and First Runner-up Doubles – Champion

Overall Champion – Inter-school Basketball Competition 2018-2019

With passion, hard work and team spirit, our Ying Wa Basketball Team emerged as the overall champion in the Inter-school Basketball Competition 2018 – 2019.  Players from all grades A, B and C are applauded for their commitment and willingness to push their own limits. Canadian Computing Competition (Hong Kong Contest) 2019

Three S5 students received awards at the Canadian Computing Competition (Hong Kong Contest) 2019.  This competition began its history in 1996 in Canada, providing a forum for secondary school students to learn and enjoy programming.  Since then, it has extended to other parts of the world.In the Junior Category*, Lee Cho Man (5D) and Ho Ka Shun (5C) were awarded the Certificate of Distinction and the Certificate of Merit respectively.  In the Senior Category*, Cheng Tsz Ying (5E) was awarded the Honorable Mention.

Cathay Pacific 2018 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards

Organized by the Sports Federation & Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Federation) and subvented by the Leisure and Cultural Services Department and Cathay Pacific, the Cathay Pacific 2018 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards Ceremony was held on 26 March to recognise the outstanding performance of Hong Kong athletes.  Our student, Vivien Chiu (趙蕙芸), was awarded the Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Awards.  Vivien was grateful that the school, teachers and her peers have always been supportive of her.

Champion - The HKFYG English Public Speaking Contest

Rudaba Rubaiyath (S3) took home the Champion in the Grand Final of the HKFYG English Public Speaking Contest, jointly organized by The Hong Kong Federation of Youth Groups (HKFYG) and the English Speaking Union (Hong Kong).  In her winning speech, she analysed reasons why Hong Kong people had become less happy in recent years and gave tips on how we could live a happy life.The contest aims at enhancing young people’s public speaking and communication competences, as well as their abilities to think critically.

National Olympiad in Informatics in Provinces 2018

Students made unprecedented achievements at the National Olympiad in Informatics in Provinces (NOIP) 2018 where a total of 5 senior form students were awarded medals.In the Senior Group of NOIP 2018, Cheng Tsz Ying (5E) won a gold medal, which was the first-ever gold medal awarded to Ying Wa. Lee Cho Man (5D), Lee Ching Laam (6A) and Au Sui Yu (6D) won silver medals while Ho Ka Shuen (5C) won a bronze medal.

Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics 2018/19

Our girls made us proud at the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics 2018/19 with 5 students being awarded medals.In the Junior Group, Cheng Tsz Ying (5E) won the first-ever gold medal for Ying Wa with her excellent performance while Luo Elysia Songen (3E) was awarded a bronze medal.  In the Senior Group, Ng Sin Ting (6C) won a silver medal.  Ho Ka Shuen (5C) and Lee Ching Laam (6A) were awarded bronze medals.All prize-winners were invited to join the Hong Kong Olympiad in Informatics Training Team for more intensive training.  A Team Formation Test would be held in May 2019 to...
