Morning Assembly Conducted by Learning Ambassadors

15 Learning Ambassadors (LA) delivered a talk on the topic of “Learning how to Learn” in the morning assembly on February 19.  Thanks to the guidance of the teacher advisors, the ambassadors adopted a structural approach to introducing different types of learning skills, including regular note-taking, motivating oneself and prioritizing tasks etc.  In the talk, not only did the LAs present the topic with confidence, but they also shared their own learning experiences across different subjects which helped their schoolmates understand the learning theories behind in order to make appropriate plans for their own learning.

Jazz Team Awards

Our Jazz Dance Team won the Silver Award in the Dance World Cup 2025 Hong Kong Qualifying Match held at Youth Square on February 15.  They also secured the Honours Award at the 61st Schools Dance Festival and received the Choreography Award at Ko Shan Theatre on February 17.

Their performance, ‘It’s OK to be Sad’, explores the themes of vulnerability and true strength.

Hong Kong Tourism Industry Student Summit 2025

On 15 February, S4 and S5 students from the Tourism and Hospitality Studies (THS) participated in the Hong Kong Tourism Industry Student Summit 2025.  Organized by the Hong Kong Tourism Board in partnership with the Education Bureau, this event enhanced students' insights into the tourism sector.  By engaging in project-based learning, students were encouraged to apply their academic knowledge practically.  This approach creates a meaningful link between classroom theories and real-world industry practices, ultimately enriching their educational experience beyond the classroom.

Farewell Assembly 2025

On February 14, a farewell assembly was held for the graduating classes.  The S6 students moved us with their heart-warming messages of gratitude towards their teachers, schoolmates, and all members of Ying Wa.  

Our Principal, Mr Francis Kwan, shared his well-wishes and valuable advice with the graduating classes.  He encouraged the graduating classes by reiterating his firm belief in each and every student’s ability to shine brightly in their future endeavours.   

The assembly concluded with a cherished tradition where the S6 girls passed a candle flame from one to another, symbolising the continuation of the school’s heritage, while singing the meaningful hymn “Pass it on".

High Achievers’ Award Ceremony 2024-25

The High Achievers’ Award Ceremony took place on February 12, 2025, during the morning assembly.  Students from S1 to S5 who achieved outstanding academic results during the first term were recognized for their exceptional accomplishments.  Their exemplary performance serves as an inspiration for all students to strive for excellence in their studies.  Awards were presented to junior form students who ranked among the top three in each class and form.  For the senior forms, awards were given to those who ranked first in each subject.  Our Principal, Mr Francis Kwan, extended his heartfelt congratulations to the high achievers in his address.  Additionally, Mr Kwan announced the names of students from S2 to S6 who were recognized by the Yo

Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival (HKICF) 2025

Our Senior Choir proudly won the Gold Award in the Hong Kong Inter-School Choral Festival (HKICF) competition, held in Tsuen Wan Town Hall on 11 February.  Guided by Mr Matthew Leung’s conducting, the choir successfully interpreted and performed the challenging Hungarian song, A virágok vetélkedése (the contest of flowers) composed by Beischer-Matyó, Tamás.

EmpowerHer Future Program

On February 6, 25 Secondary Four and Five students of Economics and BAFS participated in the AIA Carnival event as part of the EmpowerHer Future Program.  This event was organized by Inspiring Girls Hong Kong in partnership with HSBC, UBS, Natixis, and AIA Carnival.  It provided students with the opportunity to explore potential career paths and understand the significance of financial literacy.  During the event, students engaged in speed networking sessions with female professionals in the business sector and learned about managing personal finances through a life-sized Monopoly-style board game.

CUHK Vex Robotics Competition

A team of S1-3 students, among 86 teams from 43 schools, successfully entered the final round of the CUHK Vex Robotics Competition.

We sent a total of 3 teams consisting of 10 junior students to the competition, which required participants to design and assemble a robot, as well as program it to complete specific missions.  The competition allowed students to showcase their problem-solving skills, creativity, and teamwork.

In the past three months, our teams exerted significant effort to prepare for the event.  They were committed to joining regular robotics classes and training workshops at CUHK, gaining invaluable insights from the experience.
