Awards of Hong Kong Physics Olympiad 2020

Hong Kong Physics Olympiad 2020 was co-organized in November 2020 by the Hong Kong Academy for Gifted Education, the Education Bureau and the Hong Kong University of Science & Technology.  An online ceremony was held in March 18, 2021.  Luo Elysia Songen (5C) and Mak Cheuk Yin (5E) were awarded the Honourable Mention and Third Honour respectively.  The prizes recognized their conscientiousness and diligent hard work in studying higher level Physics.

S5 LS Activity: Sharing on issues related to Modern China

With the coordination of CEDAR Fund (施達基金會) and the Liberal Studies (LS) Department, a guest speaker born and raised in the mainland was invited to share her experiences living in Fujian, Beijing, the United Kingdom and Hong Kong with each of the S5 class in March.  While there were no face-to-face lessons for a few days, the guest did her sharing with two classes online.  Fortunately, she could share with the other three classes in the school.  She touched on topics such as cultural differences, one-child policy, two-child policy, women’s status, development of rural areas, celebration of festivals, the online culture and a cashless society in China.  It was indeed a valuable opportunity to raise students’ awareness towards contemporary issues rel

Awards of Our Ambassadors “Mommy Light” and “Daddy Light” Celebrating the Lunar New Year - Auspicious Messages / Chinese Costume Design Competition

5 students from S4 to S6 participated in the Our Ambassadors “Mommy Light” and “Daddy Light” Celebrating the Lunar New Year - Auspicious Messages / Chinese Costume Design Competition organized by the Education Bureau.  Students and parents learned more about the Positive Parent Campaign through participating in the captioned activity which allowed students to unleash their creativity and welcome the Lunar New Year at the same time.

Yeung Yung (5B) was awarded with Second Runner-up while Cheng Yu Tung (6B), Lo Tsz Ching (5B), Lam Wing Chi (4A) and Weng Amanda (4E) were awarded with Meritorious Prize in the secondary group.

Awards of WhatsApp Sticker Design Competition

11 students from S3 to S6 participated in the WhatsApp Sticker Design Competition organized by Bank of China (Hong Kong).  The competition aimed at celebrating the Lunar New Year with friends and relatives through sending festive messages with innovative WhatsApp stickers.  Our girls were awarded with eleven merit prizes and the Second Runner-up for the Most Active Participation Prize in the secondary school section.

Christmas Message from the Principal

Dear alumnae and friends of Ying Wa,

2020 has been a tough year. Amid the global pandemic, lockdowns, and social unrest, you may feel stressed or lost at times. You may even find it hard to rejoice and give thanks. Yet, it is important to remember the scripture in 1 Thessalonians 5:18 “in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you”.

We thank our Lord for sending His son Jesus Christ to mankind. His love and promise for us makes Christmas a season of hope and light. We are also heartened by His blessings in our various school events:

Toastmasters Speech Contests 2020-2021

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the Toastmasters Speech and Table Topics Contests were held online on December 5 and this first-ever event was a resounding success.  The contests are held every year and allow participants of the Toastmasters Youth Leadership Program to demonstrate their communication and leadership skills.  This year, there were 35 contestants from S2 to S4 and 7 judges from the Toastmasters International.

Release of the 120th Anniversary School Magazine

「竹·田·書·晏」: 圖書館藝術裝置方案(第四階段環保竹磚裝置)

圖書館藝術裝置方案為同學和老師提供一個獨特的藝術創作機會,他們可選擇一本自己喜歡的書,運用雕刻機在環保竹磚上記下書名或書中的語錄,藉此分享閱讀的感悟。此計畫自2019年5月開始,共經歷了四個階段的創作和安裝工作,同學和老師在視覺藝術科老師及兩位著名雕塑家文鳳儀校友和莫一新先生的指導下,協力製作了近千個雕刻作品,並於2020年11月完成裝置。

雕刻作品已被安裝於學校周馬佩堅圖書館的四條支柱上,還組裝成一件七米長的片塊創作,放置於閱覽室裡,象徵從閱讀中萌生的意念和如流水般源源不絕的智慧,營造濃厚的閱讀氣氛。
