VR Robotic Challenge 2018 - Champion

Three S3 students won a robotics competition held by the Department of Electronics & Information Engineering Department (EIE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The success of our team showed girls' potential at robotics.  The EIE provided workshops for participants to develop their own robots during which they learnt about the electronic circuitry inside a robot, including the skills related to designing, 3D-printing and programming.  This activity helped develop students' creativity, enhanced their problem solving skills and stimulated their interest in electronic engineering. All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournaments 2017-2018 – Champion

The All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournaments from 27 to 31 December 2017 saw spectacular play by the best of the best volleyball teams from 24 local secondary schools.  Our volleyball team clinched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Grand Final against an impressive team from Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School, to emerge as the new Champion of 2017-2018. Achievements of School Teams (Album 2)

Many of our school teams have been busy with tournaments this term and two sets of outstanding results came in recently. In early December our Volleyball Team entered the Inter-school Volleyball Competition (Division 1, Grade A) and emerged as the new Champion. We are also very proud of our Basketball Team who emerged as the First Runner-up in the Inter-school Basketball Competition (Division 1, Grade A) in late November. Their rigorous training and skillful play have paid off.

La Salle – Pui Ching Programming Challenge 2017

Programming Team members, Poon Wing Sze (6C), Chan Wai Chi (5C) and Wong Yuen Lam (5A), won the silver medal in the second La Salle – Pui Ching Programming Challenge held on 15 August.  They had to complete as many challenging questions as possible within four hours and we were placed fifth among all participating schools.

「少年太空人體驗營」2017

中二戊班(2016-2017年度)林曉榆同學於暑假期間參加「少年太空人體驗營」。活動由香港太空館統籌,並由康樂及文化事務署、香港中華總商會、中國航天員科研訓練中心及酒泉衛星發射中心合辦。體驗活動合共八天,行程豐富,30名香港中學生參觀北京航天員訓練中心、酒泉衛星發射中心、國家天文台密雲觀察站和興隆觀察站,參加航天軍事專家孫錦雲教授主講的載人航天科技講座,製作模型火箭,接受一系列的航天員訓練,包括血液重新分佈訓練和太空廚房訓練等。主辦單位亦安排參加者與楊利偉、劉洋、王亞平及陳冬等航天員交流,令同學得到寶貴的學習機會。 林曉榆同學接受《人民日報》訪問

STEM in mBot 2017

A team of four S1 & S2 students participated in a robotics competition, “STEM in mBot 2017” (第二屆 – 機械人大決戰 - 「創客挑戰」) and was awarded the 1st runner-up. The objective of the competition was to design creative robots for elder care in the future. The team built the robot, “Carebot – Fit to live”, which is able to display temperature and humidity, and detect fire and gas leakage to keep the elderly safe. Okinawa Tour with 20 Awarded Tickets

The Civic Education Committee and the Global Exposure Committee joined hands to plan an itinerary in Japan, in a competition organized by Hong Kong Airlines. Ying Wa was among the 150 shortlisted schools / NGOs, and won 20 return tickets to Okinawa, Japan. An exchange tour was held from 16 to 20 July with the themes of nature and foreign influences and the impact of WWII on Okinawa. A visit to a local secondary school was arranged to deepen students’ understanding of the Okinawa culture.
