Sponsored Walk 2017
With superb weather on the morning on 18 November, the Sponsored Walk was held as one of the highlights of the Thanksgiving Week. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to St. Stephen's Girls' College for the use of their school hall for our kick-off ceremony for the fifth year running. We also appreciate the assistance of a team of dedicated parent and alumna volunteers who served as first-aiders and road-safety wardens along the route. Thanks to the support of students, volunteers, the Police and many others, we all managed to complete our annual walk safely before 12:30 pm, and in the process, raised $387,129.60, of which $280,000 would be donated to 20 charitable organizations while the balance would go to the School Redevelopment Fund.
This year marked a new start as the Aerial Photography and Technology Team videotaped the whole event. Since Ying Wa was the first school in Hong Kong to introduce the sponsored walk, 2018 would be the 50th anniversary of this meaningful fundraiser. We are committed to upholding this noble tradition "to serve and not to be served" by walking an extra mile for a good cause, and always welcome the opportunity to embrace new technology in our academic curriculum and extra-curricular programme.
