Award of Sustainable Community Innovation Competition

Five S4 students, Ng Yan Kiu (4A), Lau Sum In (4D), Chia Lok Yee (4E), and Chan Yi Ching, participated in the “Sustainable Community Innovation Competition” organized by the Hong Kong Good Stories Diverse Talent Development Programme and received the award of “Outstanding Sustainable Development Proposal.”

In this competition, the students examined the existing challenges facing the Aberdeen Wholesale Fish Market and put forward a comprehensive renewal project aimed at revitalizing the area.  Their approach considered multiple dimensions, including technological advancements, policy implications, and social factors, while integrating diverse concepts of sustainable development.

The students engaged in a series of workshops that included insightful field trips and discussions with a District Councillor.  These experiences provided them with valuable insights and practical knowledge that enriched their understanding of community planning and sustainable practices.  On the final day, they showcased their findings and proposals through a presentation, which not only highlighted their hard work but also made the entire experience profoundly rewarding.  This project not only deepened their understanding of urban sustainability but also equipped them with essential skills in teamwork, research, and public speaking.
