European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics 2025

Leung Hilary (3D) received a bronze medal, while Man Cho Yan (5C) earned an honorable mention at the European Girls’ Olympiad in Informatics (EGOI) 2025.   For the first time, the Hong Kong Association for Computer Education sent an all-girls team to compete at the EGOI, held in Bonn, Germany.   Of the four delegates, three were from Ying Wa, including Leung Hilary (3D), Chau Tsz Ying (4D), and Man Cho Yan (5C).

Hong Kong Financial Literacy Championship 2025 - Young Financial Talent Runway

We are pleased to announce that our school team, comprising Chong Cheuk Ki (5C), Li Tung Tung (5D), Zhang Chi Yan (5D), ZHU Qixuan (5D), and Leung Yan Tung (5E), has been honored with the Merit Team award in The Hong Kong Financial Literacy Championship 2025 - Young Financial Talent Runway (全港理財爭霸戰2025 - 少年金融人才計劃).

Master Chef Challenge July 2025

Hau Na Sze (3E) and Chan Hei Tung Kimberley (4A) took part in the inter-school competition organised by German Pool on July 12.  They were awarded a merit prize and received a Bento Steam Cooker in recognition of their creative entry celebrating their favourite campus flavours.

4th Runner-up of Japanese Knowledge Competition

Two YW teams, each consisting of three students, from Secondary Four and Five participated in the Second Japanese Knowledge Competition for Secondary Schools in Hong Kong (第二屆全港中學生日本常識問答比賽).  The Secondary Four team included Hau Ka Hei (4A), Lau Wing Yi (4A), and Yeh Tsz Kiu (4A), while the Secondary Five team comprised Kam Hoi Ching (5A), Lo Sze Wai (5A), and Lo Yi Wing (5A).  Organised jointly by the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong and Mu Kuang English School, the competition took place on 2 July.  It tested participants' knowledge of Japanese society, language, and...

Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2024/25

The Student Association (SA), Meronica, is honoured to have received the “Outstanding Student Association Award” from Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2024/25 hosted by Hok Yau Club.   Throughout the year they have been planning and executing various activities that aimed at fostering their schoolmates’ well-being and promoting values of gratitude and appreciation.   The award is a great encouragement and recognition to their hard work and leadership skills.

CCC Robotics Challenge 2025

A team of six talented S2 girls represented our school at the annual Robotics Competition organized by the CCC (The Church of Christ in China), bringing home a well-deserved Silver Medal.   The competition, which included secondary schools from across the CCC, challenged students to code and utilize AI recognition to control robots in completing designated tasks.   This year’s event introduced elements of Chinese History and Culture.   In addition to programming robots for various tasks, the students were required to answer questions about Chinese history and culture by using their robots to...

2024-25 UNESCO UNSDGs Debating Competition - First Runner-up

A team of S4 students was awarded First Runner-up at the grand finals of the UNESCO UNSDGs Debating Competition held at City University of Hong Kong (CityUHK) on May 20, 2025. The students—Chan Tsz Yau Dion (4B), Siu Hoi Yan (4E), and Wong Hoi Ying Sophia (4E)—won three rounds of debates, ultimately securing their spot in the finals.  In the championship round, they debated against the motion of “Bamboo scaffolding should be retained in Hong Kong.”  The debaters showcased exceptional skills in crafting counter-arguments and articulating their points with clarity and eloquence.

World Reimagined: Global STEAM Public Speaking Competition

A team of Secondary Three students, known as "Yes, We Go and STEM," won the Most Popular Award at the Global STEAM Public Speaking Competition organized by the Big Bang Academy on May 11. Along with another finalist team, "We Go and Smile," they were among 12 teams presenting their sustainability solutions to a panel of expert judges, showcasing their prototypes to the public during the competition. "Yes, We Go and STEM" developed an innovative device that uses AI to detect food freshness, while "We Go and Smile" designed a sustainable greenhouse to ensure a reliable food supply.
