CSDI Awards 2024

Three S4 students, Lau Sum In (4D), So Yan Kay (4D), and Chia Lok Yee (4E), participated in the Common Spatial Data Infrastructure (CSDI) Awards 2024.  They received the Best Presentation Award and a Merit Award.  This competition was designed to motivate students to find innovative ways to utilize geospatial data to address various challenges faced by our city.

For their project, the team focused on the pressing issue of social isolation among the elderly population in Hong Kong.  They began by identifying the social needs of this demographic, which helped them formulate a relevant theme for their work.  Using spatial data, they created detailed digital maps and developed models that visually represented their findings on the shortages of the elderly homes in some particular districts in Hong Kong.  This hands-on approach not only deepened their understanding of the issue of ageing population but also enhanced their potential as future leaders in addressing complex social challenges through innovative solutions.
