中華基督教會香港區會中小幼模範生2024頒獎禮將已於2024年4月13日(星期六)在中華基督教會協和小學(長沙灣)舉行。此頒獎禮由中華基督教會香港區會主辦,以表揚學生們的努力和成就。三丙班蕭凱昕同學和四丁班布梓攸同學於中學組獲得模範生獎。

S1 Visit to Yuen Long Bypass Floodway

24 S1 students participated in the Yuen Long Bypass Floodway Guided Tour on Apr 12.  Aligned with the 'Trouble of Water' theme in the S1 Geography syllabus, this tour aimed to extend students' understanding towards the theme beyond the classroom setting.

During the tour, the students not only gained insights into water management strategies and flood prevention measures but also witnessed the astounding ecology and flourishing biodiversity of the floodway.  This immersive learning experience deepened their knowledge and fostered a profound sense of appreciation for and responsibility towards valuable water resources.

S2 Visit to HK Museum of Coastal Defence

The whole form of S2 students visited the Hong Kong Museum of Coastal Defence on the afternoon of Apr 12.  The visit aimed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Hong Kong's coastal defence history and its significance.  The themes explored during the visit included the strategic importance of Hong Kong's coastal defence, the challenges faced during different historical periods, and the contributions made by individuals in safeguarding the city's coastlines.  We express our heartfelt gratitude to all S2 history teachers and class teachers for their guidance and support in organizing this educational visit.

Talk by Mr Matthew Leung

Mr Matthew Leung, our Music teacher and panel head of the Music Department, delivered an inspiring talk during the morning assembly on Apr 10.   He shared his remarkable journey in the field of music, from his early music studies in childhood to his university education in Hong Kong, and ultimately his pursuit of further studies overseas.  In the talk, he also highlighted other individuals, both musicians and professionals, who faced physical disabilities yet demonstrated unwavering passion in pursuing their dreams in music and other fields.  He placed particular emphasis on their remarkable achievements, underscoring the importance of resilience in students amidst the challenges of today's world.

Exchange with AHSPU (Sister School Scheme)

YW girls and boys from Ying Wa College (YWC) recently organised a cultural exchange programme with Affiliated High School of Peking University (AHSPU, 北京大學附屬中學), Beijing.  The programme, which ran from Mar 27 to Apr 2 (7D6N), marked our first student-based cultural exchange under the Sister School Scheme outside Hong Kong.  During the programme, students engaged in enriching discussions on various topics, improving their language skills and cultural understanding.  We look forward to organizing more exciting exchange programmes in the future, fostering closer ties between our students and promoting global citizenship.

Eco-tour to Long Valley

The Eco Amigos, our school's environmental protection team, recently co-organized an eco-tour to Long Valley on Mar 27 in collaboration with the Civic Club of St Joseph's College and the Conservancy Association.  16 students from S3, S4, and S5 had the opportunity to participate in this joint-school initiative and local excursion.

During the tour, the students were guided by conservation experts and local farmers, allowing them to gain valuable insights into sustainable wetland management and the current land management issues in Hong Kong.  They also had the chance to learn about the future role of agriculture within our community.

Macau Unlocked Programme by SCMP

Two S3 students, So Yan Kay (3D), and Lau Sum In (3E), were selected as finalists to participate in the Macau Unlocked Programme, an initiative jointly organised by the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO) and South China Morning Post (SCMP) Young Post.  The programme, titled "A Cultural Journey Through Time: Exploring Macau's Historical Evolution," aimed to deepen students' understanding of Macau's rich history and its efforts to preserve its cultural heritage.  Accompanied by local cultural experts, the students had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into historical landmarks and cultural sites in Macau.

Easter Service 2024

The Easter Service took place on Mar 22 at Silcocks Hall, accompanied by the traditional Famine Lunch held the day before to raise funds for the needy and provide a glimpse into the experience of hunger.  We were honoured to have Pastor Richard Welsh from Lifehouse International Church (香港生命堂) to deliver a compelling message titled "Why Easter?"  Pastor Welsh captivated the audience as he delved into the essence of Easter, emphasizing its role in personal introspection and rejuvenation.  He shared the inspiring story of Peter, who, despite initially denying Jesus three times, experienced the transformative power of forgiveness and love.
