Interact Club
YWGS represents more than just Ying Wa Girls’ School; it embodies the principle of “Yes We Go and Serve.” This ethos is at the heart of our Interact Club, where members actively organise and participate in various service initiatives aimed at supporting the elderly, children, the underprivileged, and individuals with mental disabilities. These projects not only provide help to those in need but also empower our students to enhance their leadership and communication skills while gaining a deeper understanding of the challenges faced by others.
On top of this, the Interact Club organised a transformative service trip to Uganda with Watoto during the summer of 2024. Students visited slums, community centres, and engaged with families confronting significant hardships. This enriching experience broadened their global perspectives, deepened their appreciation for different cultures, and fostered a lasting commitment to service. Each moment spent in Uganda left a profound impact on the students, inspiring them to continue making positive changes both locally and globally. Through the Interact Club, students have embraced the values of service and emerged as passionate advocates for those in need, living out the spirit of “to serve but not to be served.”
Red Cross
The Hong Kong Red Cross Youth Unit 11 at Ying Wa Girls’ School aims to protect life and health, serve the community, and put the spirit of humanity into action. Members have ample opportunities to explore the community through service projects and to unleash their potential by attending training courses, ranging from first aid to knot tying. Various friendship events, such as joint-unit friendship projects and unit camps, are held to enhance bonding among members and foster a sense of belonging to the unit.
Through the Progressive Programme, members are nurtured stage by stage to embrace the mission of Red Cross Uniformed Groups and to develop leadership skills. The team not only offers regular health checks to all students and teachers under the School Health Ambassador scheme, but also provides first aid services during important school events, such as Sports Day and the Swimming Gala. Furthermore, the team was the Overall Champion in the Territory-wide Youth First Aid Competition and 2nd runner-up in the Hong Kong Island Division Nursing Competition this year. As members of the International Red Cross Movement, we introduce humanitarian actions to strengthen our understanding of global issues.
