S2 STEM Day

The S2 STEM Day was a highlight of the Phase 1 activities during the end-of-term period.  All S2 students attended a lecture conducted by China Light and Power (CLP) as part of the CLP Engineer-in-School Programme, focusing on Energy Saving and the working life of engineers.  Following the lecture, the students were assigned to various STEM activities, including two in-school and three off-site activities.

A group of twenty students visited Ying Wa College (YWC), where they had the opportunity to engage in Flight Simulation and VR activities guided by senior YWC students.  Meanwhile, thirty students participated in the Hong Kong Metropolitan University (HKMU) STEM workshop, where they built their own VR glasses and learned about optics.  They also had the chance to explore the university laboratories.  Another group of thirty students visited Hong Kong Institute of Vocational Education - Tsing Yi, where they explored advanced technologies at the Smart City Innovation Centre.  They fully immersed themselves in the world of virtual reality, experiencing workplace simulations and witnessing the potential of VR in shaping the future.  It also included visits to the Robotics Laboratory and Solar Car Laboratory.

As for the in-school workshops, the VR in Art workshop provided students with the opportunity to create virtual characters and environments using Spatial, enabling them to interact with each other in the virtual world.  In the Lego Robotics workshop, students were divided into competitive teams and challenged to build and programme their own robots to complete designated tasks.  The students were highly engaged and thoroughly enjoyed the hands-on nature of the competitions.
