Cantonese Public Speaking Contest

The Cantonese Public Speaking Contest, organized by the Civic Education Committee, was held on May 21.  With great anticipation, three finalists showcased their oratorical eloquence and critical thinking skills by sharing their perspectives on hot topics and important values.

Chan Lok Ching (4D) used IShowSpeed’s visit to Hong Kong and the controversies over the use of priority seats on the MTR to illustrate the values of consideration and respect for others.  Cheung Tsz Chun (2E), on the other hand, shared the story of John McCarthy, the father of artificial intelligence, to emphasize the importance of perseverance and the courage to face adversity.  Last but not least, Ho Wing Yan (2B) told the audience that crying was simply a form of expression and had nothing to do with weakness or the desire to escape problems.

In the end, Ho Wing Yan (2B) was awarded the Best Speaker Award.
