The 125th Anniversary Art Exhibition - Legacy in Bloom

The Visual Arts Department proudly organized an 8-day exhibition, from October 3 to 10, at the prestigious Pao’s Gallery on the 5th floor of the Hong Kong Arts Centre. Titled the 125th Anniversary Art Exhibition - Legacy in Bloom, the event celebrated a remarkable milestone—125 years since the founding of our school.   This exhibition not only highlighted our enduring dedication to art education but also showcased the exceptional artistic talents of our students.   It stood as a tribute to the school’s rich history while embracing the mission of preserving and promoting the essence of art and traditional Chinese culture.

The exhibition featured outstanding works from students across all grade levels, from Secondary One to Six.   These included basic drawings and paintings from junior students, skilful pieces inspired by DSE public examination papers, and unique creations from SBA projects.   Collaborative group works from different classes beautifully expressed the students’ love for the school and their creative interpretations of this meaningful celebration.

A total of 145 pieces of artwork were displayed, spanning an impressive array of media such as cyanotype, fabric art, pen and ink on paper, digital art, book sculpture, and installation. A special highlight of the exhibition was the exquisite ceramic works created during the Jingdezhen Traditional Ceramic Culture Study Tour.   These included wheel-thrown ceramics, hand-sculpted pieces, and intricately underglaze-painted pottery. Additionally, masterpieces from the Chinese Ink Painting Course, led by Ms Prudence Mak, founder of Chocolate Rain, were also proudly presented.

The opening ceremony, held on October 4, was a memorable occasion. It began with a heartfelt welcome address by Ms Prudence Mak, followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony led by Ms Luk Shan, Art Consultant of the Jingdezhen Ceramic Culture Study Tour, alongside our Principal, Ms Tiffany Chuk.   The event drew a large gathering of visitors, including parents, students, and art enthusiasts, making it an unforgettable celebration of creativity and legacy.

This landmark exhibition perfectly encapsulated the spirit of our school’s 125-year journey, blending tradition and innovation, and serving as a testament to the transformative power of art education.
