3 Unmissable Events on 28 Mar Successfully Held

On 28 Mar 2026, Ying Wa successfully hosted three unmissable events, each celebrating our shared heritage, values, and community spirit.

1) Centenary Celebration of the 1926 Heritage Block

The centenary milestone of the 1926 Heritage Block was celebrated, honouring the foresight and fortitude of the pioneers who established the foundations of early childhood education a century ago.  Today, the heritage cottage has been preserved and repurposed as the School History Room. The celebration featured a meaningful ceremony led by our current principal, Ms Chuk Wai Kan, along with sharing by our former principal, Mr Francis Kwan, demonstrating the YW spirit of “to serve and not to be served,” a noble tradition we will continue to extend further.

The event was joined by principals, teachers, alumnae, and students. Visitors enjoyed booth games that refreshed the history of Ying Wa, along with cute and appealing souvenirs (a key ring).  The celebration also brought wonderful student performances, including Chinese dance, jazz dance, Guzhen, and Erhu.

2) Founder’s Day Lunch

The Founder’s Day Lunch was held in the afternoon at Silcocks Hall.  At the same time, the Founder’s Day Service and the Alumnae Association Annual General Meeting were also conducted.  During the lunch, recent activities carried out by the Alumnae Association were shared.  Alumni were also encouraged to continue supporting the operation of the AA Trust Fund, ensuring that the Association can serve and sustain future opportunities for the school community.

3) London Missionary Society (LMS) Heritage Walk

To celebrate the 230th anniversary of our founding body, the London Missionary Society (LMS), alongside with our 1926 Heritage Block and partnering church, Hop Yat Church, an LMS Heritage Walk was organised.  The walk invited alumni, friends of Ying Wa, and members of the public to retrace the rich history of our school and our neighbours in the LMS community.  Both former principals, Mrs Ruth Lee and Mr Francis Kwan, were invited as guest speakers in the LMS Building and the 1926 Heritage Block respectively.  All reservations were filled up by alumni and friends of Ying Wa.

These three events would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the teachers and students of Ying Wa, making 28 Mar 2026 a truly meaningful and successful day for our school community.
