8 Computer Programming Team members from S4 to S6 participated in the IFTA Girls in Tech Hackathon held by the Institute of Financial Technologist of Asia and co-organized by the Microsoft Hong Kong and Hour of Code Hong Kong.  The hackathon aimed at promoting and encouraging teenage girls’ innovation, enhancing the diversity and technological development of the innovation and technology industry, as well as cultivating young women’s vision and interest for artificial intelligence and innovative technology.  A total of 58 students from 19 teams took part in the hackathon.  Every team was required to build a chatbot according to the case scenario set by the organizer and perform certain functions.  In the end, participants were asked to present and demonstrate their product to the judges on August 7 and 8, 2021 at the Cyberport Microsoft Office.

Tang Yui Ying (5D) and Wang Jun Wei Serena (5D) won the first runner-up of the hackathon and were invited to the IFTA FinTech Achievement Award Presentation Ceremony on August 19, 2021.  Their personal wealth management chatbot aimed at facilitating users’ application of various e-payment platforms.  Through this competition, all participants developed deeper understanding towards the FinTech industry while gaining valuable experience by creating their own chatbot.
