Church Music Group – Junior Choir (2nd Runner Up)
Under the baton of Miss Li Chun-yan Selina, our Junior Choir was awarded the second runner-up prize in the Church Music Group (Foreign Language) in the 69th Hong Kong Schools Music Festival. The Church Music Group mainly consisted of Secondary One students who worked with great diligence and the will to refine their skills. They relished the opportunity and experience to showcase their potential in music tremendously.

Swimming Gala 2017
Thanks to the collaboration of teachers and the five houses guided by our PE teachers, the Swimming Gala got off to a good start at 8.15 am at Dr Sun Yat-sen Memorial Park Swimming Pool. In the opening ceremony, our Chinese language teacher, Ms Wong Yung Sze, gave an inspiring speech highlighting the good qualities of Ying Wa girls and the importance of developing sportsmanship and character. Efforts from students, no matter the cheering teams or the contestants, contributed to the great success of the day. Our IMC Independent Manager, Mr Lau Kwok Hing, delivered a speech in the closing ceremony, encouraging students to enjoy every occasion of sports competitions in their school life.

Talk by Ms Isobel O'Connor
Ms Isobel O'Connor, the Deputy Consul of the General Consulate of Ireland, visited Ying Wa on 22nd March to deliver a talk to S4 students about her career path in the diplomatic service and Irish Culture. The chief objective was to offer students the exposure to the natural beauty of the Emerald Isle and its colourful festivals like St Patrick's Day. The talk was fruitful and interactive with students' raising a lot of interesting questions.

A Behind-the-scene Look at School Redevelopment by Ms Esther Chow
Architect and Director at P & T Group, Ms Esther Chow, amazed her junior schoolmates with a delightfully candid account of the tremendous efforts made by various parties, from principals to alumnae, from legislators to construction workers, from donors to designers, over the years to make the School Redevelopment Project a reality – one brick at a time.
Throughout the process, many a challenge was overcome with the faith in God and in the goodwill of His people; unforeseen circumstances were met with patient reflection and inspired solutions. This makes the resulting success both heartwarming and delightful.

Canadian Computing Competition (Hong Kong Contest) 2017
Poon Wing Sze (6C) won the Certificate of Merit in the Senior Category while Au Sui Yu (4D) and Wong Yuen Lam (5A) were awarded the Certificate of Distinction in the Junior Category in the Canadian Computing Competition (Hong Kong Contest) 2017.
But the biggest winner was their team mate, Chan Wai Chi (5C), whose prize was an all-expense-paid trip to Canada in May to attend the Canadian Computing Olympiad. She has the honour of being the first female contestant to represent Hong Kong at this prestigious tournament.

Founder’s Day Service 2017
We were delighted to have invited Ms. Anita Ng as our guest speaker at the annual Founder's Day Service. A former student of Ying Wa, Ms. Ng is now an Ophthalmologist and a devoted member of Mighty Oaks Foundation, a charity for elderly people. Ms. Ng talked about the importance of having a mission in life. She also inspired our students with her passion in volunteering for the elderly with eye diseases.

The 8th Healthy Information Student Ambassadors Scheme
Two S5 girls, Churk Ka Yu (5E) and Lam Him Tung (5E) represented our Student Health Unit in the 8th Healthy Information Student Ambassadors Scheme, organised by the Office of Film, Newspaper and Article Administration. As student ambassadors, they took part in a leadership training camp, attended an IT training course and held a talk for S1 and S2 students on the theme of "Healthy Use of Internet" on 10 February. An award ceremony was held on 4 Marth 2017 in recognition of their efforts. OFNAA aims to promote the healthy use of the internet and encourage teenagers to participate actively in community service with this annual programme.

高中個人(粵語)演講比賽2017
本校強調兩文三語全面發展,為提供課堂以外的學習機會,中文科及公民教育委員會合辦高中個人粵語演講比賽。比賽於2017年3月1日早會時間進行,五位參賽同學 (五甲陳濼如、五乙何嘉盈及劉德怡、五丙岑泳希、五戊林謙童) 表現出色,最後由林謙童同學獲得最佳演繹獎。參賽同學在賽前接受訓練 ─ 浸會大學辯論隊成員林子澧先生應邀分享經驗及講解演講技巧,賽後得到評判的評語回饋,獲益良多。校長除頒獎外,還分享演講心得,鼓勵同學勇於嘗試,把握演講機會,藉此建立自信和提高表達能力。
