Workshop: Introduction to Micro-controllers (Arduino)
To get prepared for the school-based study tour to Singapore (Theme: Science Exploration & Robotics), twenty S2-3 students attended a workshop and learnt to build their own robots on 8th July. The workshop lasting 3 hours was held to equip them with a basic understanding of the role of a micro-controller in an electronic device and how it works. Students learnt to control the lighting system of LEDs through programming Arduino, a type of microcontroller.

BOCHK Bauhinia Bowl Award Prize Presentation 2017
Chan Samantha of 2C was named the BOCHK Rising Star Athlete 2016-2017. This annual award is presented to outstanding C Grade athletes who have contributed actively to their schools and achieved significant results in sports. Samantha is a promising student, enthusiastic basketball player and the captain of YW Basketball Team (Grade C).

第11屆鄭裕彤盃排球邀請賽
排球隊於2017年7月1至3日參加第11屆鄭裕彤盃排球邀請賽(女子中學組),隊員士氣高昂,表現出色,獲得亞軍。個別隊員亦以精湛球技獲獎:中五甲陳靖潼─ 最佳攻擊,中五戊祝嘉榆 ─ 最佳攔網,中五戊林禧婷 ─ 最佳托球。

Ms Tang Ho-ling Helen
Ms Tang Ho-ling Helen, a YW S7 graduate of 2010, is a composer and music arranger for film, television and video games. Now, she is pursuing a Master's Degree in Scoring for Film, Television and Video Games at the Berklee College of Music, Valencia. She is also the recipient of the Composers and Authors Society of Hong Kong Music Scholarship 2016, the Berklee General Scholarship and the Macau Postgraduate Scholarship. She recently recorded her musical piece, "Eternity", in London AIR studios with a 50-piece orchestra.

Annual General Meeting (SA and Inter-house)
The Annual General Meeting of the 68th Student Association (Orenda) and the 26th Inter-house Committee (Nota) was held smoothly on 30 June. This year, the SA adopted a new format on the presentation of events and evaluated their work for the year. All core committee members were involved in using Prezi to make their evaluation more effective.

Talk on Okinawa, Japan
In order to develop a sense of global citizenship, the Civic Education Committee and the Global Exposure Committee have been joining hands to promote local, national and international cultures. Among their programmes this year was a talk on 30 June delivered by two guest speakers, Mr Saisho and Ms Josephine Chan, from the Okinawa Prefectural Government Hong Kong Representative Office, who shared with our students and teachers the essence of Okinawa, including the food culture, weather, landscape, local and international transportation network. It was followed by a much anticipated exchange tour to Okinawa from 16 to 20 July.

Outstanding Athlete (Volleyball) of Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Awards 2016-2017
Our school team player, Chan Wing Yin (5A) was a recipient of the Outstanding Athlete (Volleyball) of Grantham Outstanding Student Athlete Awards 2016-2017. Organised by the Hong Kong Schools Sports Federation, it aims at encouraging Hong Kong athletes to strive for excellence, promote a healthy lifestyle and positive attitude, and cultivate a sporting culture within schools.
