26th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR (National Flag Hoisting Ceremony)

The National Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held on June 26, 2023 to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China.  The Civic Education Committee chose the theme “The Challenges and Opportunities of the HKSAR in 2023” to foster students’ sense of national identity.  During the ceremony, two Secondary 3 students discussed the impact of COVID-19 in Putonghua on various aspects of Hong Kong society, including its economy and unemployment rate.  They also highlighted the government’s efforts to address economic challenges resulting from the pandemic, such as implementing travel arrangements to boost tourism and distributing consumption vouchers to stimulate spending.  Overall, the event provided a platform for students to engage with important societal issues and reflect on their role as responsible citizens of Hong Kong.
