Celebration for the National Day and Mentorship Programme
To honour the 76th Anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, as well as the 80th Anniversary of the Victory in the Chinese People’s War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War, our school held a flag raising ceremony led by our Flag Hoisting Team and the Civic Education Committee on September 30. Accompanied by an uplifting tune and the flawless march of the Flag Hoisting Team, the student body sang the national anthem with pride. The ceremony was followed by Cheung Yik Shuen (4C) and Gong Man Yuet (5A)’s heartfelt sharing on our country’s achievements in science and technology, the September 3rd Victory Day Parade, and the 80th Anniversary of our victory in World War II. It is an occasion for us to remember history, honour fallen heroes, cherish peace, and create a better future (銘記歷史 緬懷先烈 珍愛和平 開創未來). Through this ceremony, the values of national identity, unity, and peace were conveyed.
In addition, this year marks the 22nd Anniversary of the Mentorship Programme (師友計劃), a collaboration between the Alumnae Association and the Careers Committee. Programme Coordinator Ms Judia Yue explained to students that its aim is to pair up mentees with suitable mentors by catering to the mentees’ career aspirations. Through gatherings and interactions, a supportive, caring, and long-lasting relationship can be developed, strengthening the bonds among the YW community.
