Citizenship and Social Development Mainland Study Tour on March 4 & 5, 2026

The 2-day-1-night S5 Citizenship and Social Development Mainland Study Tour was successfully held on March 4 and 5, 2026.  Sponsored by the Education Bureau and organized by Bestlink Cultural Exchange Limited (百利國際文化交流中心), the tour provided an opportunity for 130 S5 students and 15 teachers to explore Shenzhen’s creative industries alongside its technological and economic advancements (深圳創意文化內地考察兩天團).

The smooth crossing via the Liantang / Heung Yuen Wai Boundary Control Point (蓮塘/香園圍口岸) ensured a swift arrival in Shenzhen.  The first stop was the Shenzhen-Hong Kong Exchange Hall (深港交流館), where students gained firsthand exposure to our country’s cutting-edge technologies in artificial intelligence, drones, and other emerging innovations.

The second stop was the Shenzhen Reform & Opening-up Exhibition Hall (深圳改革開放展覽館), where students learned about the background, impressive progress, and major achievements of our country’s reform and opening-up policies.  Meanwhile, the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning (深圳市當代藝術與城市規劃館) allowed them to witness modern urban designs that enhance people’s quality of life.

The final stop of the first day was the Overseas Chinese Town (OCT) – Loft Cultural Park (華僑城創意文化園), which has attracted around 300 cultural, creative, and design agencies and enterprises.

The second day began with engaging encounters at the Longgang District Science & Technology Museum (龍崗區科技館) within the Red Cube of Shenzhen (深圳紅立方).  Students were thrilled to participate in a variety of interactive exhibits, allowing them to explore the wonders of science and technology firsthand.

The Twenty-four Histories Academy (二十四史書院) and Gankeng Hakka Town (甘坑客家小鎮) brought the tour to a meaningful close.  The Twenty-four Histories Academy felt like a portal to the Tang Dynasty.  In addition to its dedication to classical Chinese texts and Confucian teachings, its elegant layout and garden aesthetics exude a scholarly charm.  At the Gankeng Hakka Town, students learned about the city’s heritage, strolled through the historic area, visited exhibition spaces converted from old buildings, and admired the beautiful landscape.

Overall, everyone thoroughly enjoyed this unforgettable two-day Mainland Study Tour.  This authentic experience allowed students to witness firsthand how impressive Shenzhen truly is, while strengthening their sense of national identity and belonging to our country.  It is hoped that the valuable insights gained will inspire students to become more informed and responsible citizens who contribute positively to society and the nation in the future.
