Drama viewing cum post-performance discussion of the Le Fils by HKREP
S5 arts Students attended a student-exclusive performance of Le Fils (The Son), presented by the Hong Kong Repertory Theatre. This play is the third piece in French playwright Florian Zeller's "Family Trilogy." Le Fils was nominated for the Best Play Award at the French Crystal Globe Awards in 2019 and was later adapted into the 2022 film The Son.
Our students were deeply moved by the complex dynamics between the son, his father, his mother, and his stepmother. They resonated with the depiction of how the characters genuinely loved one another but failed to express it effectively, leading to miscommunication and emotional distance. This poignant portrayal encouraged students to reflect on their own lives and relationships.
The post-performance discussion, led by Associate Artistic Director Yau Ting-fai, Main Cast Lo Man Chak and Clinical Psychologist Dr. Crystal Cheung, provided further insight into the play’s themes. The session was highly supportive and inspiring, offering students valuable perspectives on family relationships and emotional expression.
