English Debates for Junior Forms

Three debates for each junior year level, S1, S2 and S3, were held successfully from late April to early May.  Six debaters from each form got to showcase their skills in front of their peers and contested on topics such as adolescent mobile phone ownership, robot teachers, and the use of artificial intelligence.

A core part of this programme was the student-directed aspect.  The debates provided an incredible platform for student engagement and learning.  Our senior debaters took on the responsibility of helping coach their junior counterparts and adjudicating the debates.  With their valuable insights, both the participants and the audience received tailored and constructive feedback on how to improve their argumentation and delivery.

It is noteworthy that these debates were the culmination of a comprehensive three-year rollout of our junior form debating curriculum.  This programme nurtured and cultivated the debating skills of students over time, enabling them to improve their critical thinking and persuasive skills.
