Internal Debate Competition Finals

The Grand Finals of this year’s Internal Debate Competition concluded today successfully.

In the Junior Final, teams clashed over the motion, “This House Regrets the glorification of Beauty and the Beast by Disney.”  Debaters skillfully tackled complex themes, including the impact of societal stereotypes and the underlying moral lessons of the classic tale.  Ultimately, the Affirmative team, comprised of Chan Wing Sum Mia (3A), Po Yat Hei (3C), and Choi Wan Lam Kirsten Coney (3A), took home the championship title.

Meanwhile, the Senior Final saw an intense intellectual battle over the motion, “This House prefers cultural approaches that prioritise cultural assimilation over multiculturalism.”  The speakers demonstrated exceptional critical thinking, deftly weighing the societal impacts and long-term benefits of both approaches.   In the end, the Negative team, Wong Hoi Ying Sophia (5E), Lau Wing Yi (5A), and Siu Hoi Yan (5E), triumphed to claim the senior championship.
