In Loving Memory of Dr Luk Chiu Kwan Hung (1928–2026)

It is with heavy hearts and profound gratitude that we honour the life and legacy of Dr Luk Chiu Kwan Hung (陸趙鈞鴻博士), a beloved teacher in our Ying Wa community and a towering figure in Hong Kong’s educational history.

Dr Luk was appointed as the Head Teacher of the Ying Wa Kindergarten in the 1950s.  At Ying Wa, she established a culture where joy, faith, and dignity were the cornerstones of learning.  Long before play-based learning became a global standard, Dr Luk was already planting seeds of knowledge through song, laughter, and stories, believing that a child’s smile was the world’s most beautiful flower.

Her influence extended far beyond the walls of Ying Wa. As a pioneer of early childhood education, her vision sparked reforms across Hong Kong and set the standard for bilingual and international schooling.

The Ying Wa family remembers her not only as an educator but as a spiritual mentor.  She used the simplest language to share the message of God’s unconditional love, ensuring that her students grew up with a moral compass and a heart for others.

While we mourn the loss of a visionary, we find comfort in knowing that her legacy lives on in the lives she touched.  The seeds she sowed decades ago have grown into a vast forest of wisdom and kindness.  We extend our deepest condolences to Dr Luk’s family.

Thank you, Dr Luk, for your song remains in our ears, and your smile remains in our hearts.
