Public Speaking (Cantonese) Activity 2022

The Civic Education Committee organised a public speaking (Cantonese) activity on June 22 to develop students’ critical thinking skills, positive values and attitudes.  This activity provided an opportunity for student speakers to improve their oratorical skills and explore different issues such as compassion, the struggle of being professionals or generalists, and the importance of building confidence etc.  Students in the audience could also learn by listening to the impressive speeches delivered by the speakers on stage.

Prior to the activity, Ms Yau Hui Ming, a member of the Chinese Debating Team of The Baptist University of Hong Kong, was recruited to provide public speaking training to the speakers.  Not only did they learn to speak constructively, but they also learnt how to use their intonation and body gestures to engage the audience.
