Sharing by Heritage Ambassadors

Heritage Ambassadors from S3 to S5 conducted an assembly on our school’s 1926 Heritage Block on October 23, 2024.  It was in March 2023 that this former kindergarten block was finally designated a Grade 3 historic building by the Antiquities Advisory Board.  Built in 1926, this small cottage once housed our kindergarten and remained active until 1963, except for the war years in the 1940s.  Heritage Ambassadors reminisced about the years under the leadership of Ms Muriel Hogben (Headmistress from 1920 to 1925) and Ms Vera Silcocks (Headmistress from 1939 to 1941 and 1947 to 1967).  In addition to showcasing valuable pictures of children’s attending the kindergarten, uniforms of the kindergarten, primary and secondary sections, graduation certificate of the kindergarten section, graduation certification of a male student in 1979, constitution of the former Student Association and Ms Silcock’s prestigious M.B.E. award (Most Excellent Order of the British Empire) were all clearly illustrated.
