Sharing by Rudaba Rubaiyath in LS lessons

The Liberal Studies (LS) Department invited alumna Rudaba Rubaiyath to share with three S6 classes on October 19 and 20, 2022.  Born in Bangladesh, Rudaba moved to Hong Kong at a young age.  Upon graduating from Ying Wa, she is now studying medicine at the University of Hong Kong.  Rudaba explained the opportunities and challenges she had faced as a third culture kid.  Third culture kids are people who are raised in a culture different from that of their parents’ and who have lived in a different environment during significant part of their child development years.  Rudaba ended her sharing by passing on a very positive message:  The stories, perspectives and experiences each of us have are too vast and complex to be condensed into one singular identity.  Every place we have lived in, every person with whom we have crossed paths and every story we have listened to add something to who we are as individuals.
