Speech Day 2022
The annual Speech Day was held successfully in the Silcock’s Hall despite the challenges posed by the pandemic. On this momentous occasion, all IMC members, graduates, teachers, and parents rejoiced in the achievements of the 2021-2022 cohort.
Our Principal, Mr Francis Kwan, delivered a speech to welcome all guests and report on the recent school developments and achievements. He stressed the Ying Wa’s core values of care, courage and a serving heart and how these are manifested each day at school.
Among the honourable guests was Professor Yuen Kwok Yung (袁國勇教授), GBS, SBS, JP, who graduated from the University of Hong Kong in 1981 and heads the Department of Microbiology. He is known for his remarkable accomplishments as a microbiologist, surgeon and physician. In his address, he shared his personal journey of being a clinical microbiologist and infectious disease doctor. Professor Yuen talked about how his curiosity about the universe was ignited during adolescence, opening his eyes to the vast possibilities of the unknown. He also encouraged us to learn from the Bible in order to become a better version of ourselves. After his inspiring speech, Professor Yuen presented graduation certificates to the S6 students.
Rudaba Rubaiyath (6D) delivered her valedictorian speech on behalf of the graduating classes. She thanked the school for nurturing them throughout the years and took everyone in attendance down memory lane as she reminisced her fondest memories as a Ying Wa girl.
The Speech Day was enlivened by our Chamber Choir. They impressed the audience with their beautiful rendition of ‘Cantate Domino in B♭’. It was a fantastic evening full of proud students, staff, parents and friends who contributed to the success of the Speech Day. We wish our graduates all the very best as they embark on a new journey in life.
