Talk on Early YW Years
The School Heritage Committee organized a morning assembly on May 16 to reflect on our early years, which included a discussion of the reasons behind our founder, Miss Helen Davies' development of a boarding school and the founding of our kindergarten. Under the theme of 'language across the curriculum', the English Department, History Department, and the Self-access Centre collaborated to arrange a student-based presentation. Four students, ranging from S2 to S5, delivered a multi-faceted performance that incorporated drama and other creative elements. They not only shared insights into the social conditions of Hong Kong in the early 20th century but also recounted the inspiring story of Miss Davies and Miss Hogben and their significant contributions to YW during its formative years. The presentation showcased students' excellent English skills and creativity. The audience gained a valuable opportunity to deepen their understanding of local history and appreciate the historical importance of Miss Davies’ and Miss Hogben's dedication to girls' education in Hong Kong.
