Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition – First Runner-up

Five S5 students from the STEM team participated in the “Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition” and won the First Runner-up.  The competition was organized by Hong Kong Council of Social Service.  This year, the organizer set the targeted community in Shum Shui Po.   Our team developed the project “Go-Goal-Po (深水耆跡)” in response to the theme of the contest –“Enhance Mental Health of Seniors for Better Self-esteem”.

It is believed that the physical fitness and mental health are correlated.  “Go-Goal-Po” encourages senior citizens to walk and exercise more to improve their physical fitness, which in turn enhances their mental health.  Walkers can check in using AI face recognition at different spots located in the neighborhood.  The AI system also gives advice on correct postures.  The elderly can earn digital stamps and they can redeem them for daily necessities.  This helps them gain confidence, boost self-esteem and provide an opportunity for them to be more involved in the community.

Our team demonstrated good problem-solving skills and excellent teamwork in the past 7 months.  They became more aware of social issues and were inspired by the use of technology to solve daily life problems.
