文學考察活動 ─ 「筆述我城他與她」
本校15位中一及中二同學參加由香港中文大學香港文學研究中心主辦的考察活動 ─ 「筆述我城他與她:初中學生文學景點考察」計劃。計劃的目的是通過主題式文學景點考察,帶學生走入社區,關心身邊的人和事,發掘寫作靈感。1月20日,青年作家梁莉姿小姐帶領25位參加者在石硤尾和深水埗進行考察活動,之後有作品賞析及寫作指導。同學在過程中得以擴闊眼界,並能培養對文學的興趣及提高寫作能力,獲益良多。

VR Robotic Challenge 2018 - Champion
Three S3 students won a robotics competition held by the Department of Electronics & Information Engineering Department (EIE), The Hong Kong Polytechnic University. The success of our team showed girls' potential at robotics. The EIE provided workshops for participants to develop their own robots during which they learnt about the electronic circuitry inside a robot, including the skills related to designing, 3D-printing and programming. This activity helped develop students' creativity, enhanced their problem solving skills and stimulated their interest in electronic engineering.

Awards of Dance Team 2018
Ying Wa Dance Team participated in the 34th Central & Western District Dance Competition and the 54th Schools Dance Festival. A total of 43 YW dance enthusiasts got excellent results for their passionate performance. Their participation in both competitions not only enabled them to enjoy the creative process and develop their cultural scope, but also to connect with the local artistic community.

Museum Visit – Hong Kong Museum of History
On 5 January the S6 Chinese History class visited the Hong Kong Museum of History (HKMH) to attend a special exhibition named Miles Upon Miles: World Heritage along the Silk Road. The focus of this exhibition is on the Routes Network of Chang'an-Tianshan (Corridor of the Silk Road which spanned four mainland provinces (Shaanxi, Henan, Gansu and Xinjiang), Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan. Thanks to the arrangements of HKMH, the professional docent, Ms Ho, guided the students and the accompanying teachers on how to appreciatethe invaluable artefacts symbolic of the cultural exchanges on the Silk Road from Han Dynasty onwards.

All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournaments 2017-2018 – Champion
The All Hong Kong Schools Jing Ying Volleyball Tournaments from 27 to 31 December 2017 saw spectacular play by the best of the best volleyball teams from 24 local secondary schools.
Our volleyball team clinched victory from the jaws of defeat in the Grand Final against an impressive team from Carmel Alison Lam Foundation Secondary School, to emerge as the new Champion of 2017-2018.

Generous Injection for the Mr. Yu Chu Lam Education Fund
Ying Wa Girls' School received another generous injection of HK$1,000,000 from Mr. Yu Chu Lam (庾柱林先生) to be put into the Mr. Yu Chu Lam Education Fund. The fund was set up more than 10 years ago with yearly donations by Mr. Yu to support the educational programmes in our school. Our students are indeed blessed to benefit from the generosity of well-wishers like Mr. and Mrs. Yu.

2017 UNESCO Hong Kong SDG Debating Tournament
Our debating team enjoyed an early Christmas treat as they came second at the 2017 UNESCO Hong Kong SDG Debating Tournament (novice group) and Ip Hau Yan (4B) was ranked fourth among the Top Ten Speakers out of more than 100 debaters.
Alongside Ip Hau Yan, Chan Pui Ching (5E) and Cheung Hau Yin (4B) successfully edged out fellow competitors in three preliminary rounds and the semi-final before making it to the grand final match where they debated against the motion of “This House would melt the polar ice caps if it would give drought-stricken countries drinking water”.

JENESYS Programme 2017
Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths Programme (JENESYS) is funded by the Japanese government and co-organised by the Education Bureau (EDB) annually to recruit Hong Kong secondary 5 students to engage in cultural exchange activities with Japanese students in Japan. Teenagers from Macau and Hong Kong were invited for the 9D8N Programme from 10 to 18 December. Our S5 head girl, Lo Wing Sum Amy, attended an interview at the EDB and was selected to represent Hong Kong this year. Participants visited a number of Japanese schools, museums, and enjoyed the hospitality of Japanese families in three cities, Tokyo, Nara and Kyoto, and sampled the local food.
