Summer Overseas Tours Sharing
On October 30, three groups of students came together for an assembly to share their experiences from the summer overseas tours organized by different teams in YW. Their stories highlighted the invaluable lessons learned and the unforgettable memories created during their adventures abroad. The students included Visual Arts students, members of the Dance Teams, and the School Choir. Among them, the Chinese Dance Team and the Jazz Team travelled to Prague to compete in the prestigious Dance World Cup (DWC) Final 2024. In the same city, 14 students teamed up with peers from Ying Wa College for an enriching art tour.

中華香港青少年作文暨朗誦大賽獲獎
在首屆情繫中華香港青少年作文暨朗誦大賽中,中三丙班的楊心研同學展現了優秀的寫作和朗誦能力,並以出色的朗誦技巧引起聽眾共鳴。最終,楊同學獲得大會頒予的優秀獎。

AGM of Parent-Teacher Association (2024)
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) was successfully held on October 26, 2024.
The AGM kicked off with a mini musical performance which showcased the talents of the cast members of our 125th anniversary musical A Stargazer’s Fantasy. The whole performance was designed and executed fully by students, including script writing, choreography, and song choices.

NSS Talk for Parents and S3 Students 2024
On October 26, the Careers Committee organised an informative talk about the New Senior Secondary (NSS) subject selection for S3 students and their parents.
We were honoured to have Mr Ng Po Shing, Student Consultant of Hok Yau Club, as our guest speaker. He addressed several major areas of concern, including:
- The struggle between personal interests and career development
- The importance of students' own discretion in making choices
- The evolving standards of university entry requirements
The talk concluded with a presentation on our NSS subject selection mechanism, delivered by the Vice-Principal, Mr Ng Wing Wo.

Silver Award of “Nourishing the Mind” Guidance Programme
Five S3 students participated in the “Nourishing the Mind” guidance programme, organised by Kowloon True Light School and supported by the Hong Kong Jockey Club. They engaged in this programme for six months, focusing on analysing the anxiety of junior form students. The students conducted their research in a self-directed manner, from topic formulation to data collection, analysis, and conclusion. They also highlighted the need for society to conduct more in-depth research on the mental health of students. Through collaboration, they won the Silver Award and learned the importance of collecting data both quantitatively and qualitatively to facilitate a more thorough understanding of a situation, along with recommendations.

Sharing by Heritage Ambassadors
Heritage Ambassadors from S3 to S5 conducted an assembly on our school’s 1926 Heritage Block on October 23, 2024. It was in March 2023 that this former kindergarten block was finally designated a Grade 3 historic building by the Antiquities Advisory Board. Built in 1926, this small cottage once housed our kindergarten and remained active until 1963, except for the war years in the 1940s. Heritage Ambassadors reminisced about the years under the leadership of Ms Muriel Hogben (Headmistress from 1920 to 1925) and Ms Vera Silcocks (Headmistress from 1939 to 1941 and 1947 to 1967). Music Masterclass
Two distinguished musicians, Dr Ralph Hultgren, the Artistic Director, and Mr Chris Gibbs, the Festival Director of the Australian International Music Festival, were invited by the Music Department to observe YW’s choir rehearsal. The masterclass offered students a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and fostered a deeper appreciation for their craft. Overall, the musicians' visit greatly inspired our choir members and encouraged them to pursue excellence in their musical journey.

C&W District Youth First Aid Competition 2024
On October 20, 2024, YW students in Youth Unit 11 of the Hong Kong Red Cross took part in the Central and Western (C&W) District Youth First Aid Competition. Our teams showcased their knowledge of first aid skills in a quiz competition and performed effective first aid treatment at a simulated accident scene. They won the Champion title in the quiz competition and achieved an overall third place in the first aid competition. Through participation in this competition, students not only reinforced their first aid knowledge but also developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
