Hong Kong Laureate Forum
Ying Wa Girls' School had the privilege of hosting the Dialogue with Shaw Laureates as part of the prestigious Hong Kong Laureate Forum from November 13 to 18, 2023. This enlightening event provided a platform for our students, as well as students from other schools, to engage in inspiring dialogues with renowned Shaw Laureates.

Ying Wa Good Show (Nov 2023)
Ying Wa Girls' School has a long-standing tradition of fostering students' passion for the performing arts. Our students are provided with ample opportunities to explore their artistic potential and showcase their talents on various platforms. One highly esteemed platform is the Ying Wa Good Show. With the dedicated guidance of Ms Li from the Music Department and Ms Tse from the Self-access Centre, the show was held successfully on November 16. The performances, encompassing music, rope skipping, orchestra, English drama, and mass dance, captivated both teachers and students with their exceptional talent, enthralling presence, and skillful presentation.

Talk by Ms Patricia Chan
Ms Patricia Chan (陳嘉詠), a Clinical Psychologist, delivered a talk on "The Power of Believing You Can Improve" during the whole school morning assembly on November 15. She emphasized the significance of embracing failures and the reasons behind the desire to improve. Ms Chan highlighted that labeling someone as "smart" can be a barrier to improvement. Instead, she encouraged considering oneself as hardworking, fostering faith in improvement and fearlessly facing failures. Though disappointment might arise, having a growth mindset ultimately leads to personal growth and resilience.

Award in String Orchestra Interflow
The 2023 Hong Kong Youth Music Interflows, organized by the Music Office of the Leisure and Cultural Services Department, is currently taking place from Nov 14 to Dec 2. Over 200 orchestras and bands from local primary and secondary schools are participating in this remarkable event, providing students with a platform for musical exchanges and valuable performing experience. Our school's String Orchestra achieved the Bronze award in the String Orchestra Interflow held at the Yuen Long Theatre Auditorium on Nov 15. With a captivating performance of Vivaldi's Concerto in D minor, Op.3, No.11, our students were showcasing their talent and dedicated preparation.

Awards of JS History e-Reading Award Scheme 2023
The Junior Secondary (JS) History e-Reading Award Scheme 2023, organized jointly by PSHE Section of CDI, EDB, and e-Learning Development Laboratory of HKU, took place from March to August 2023. Over 100 schools and 22,000 students participated in promoting history interest through self-directed learning. Among the 28 YW girls, 8 excelled and received Certificates of Merit and Creativity Awards. Notably, Cheung Suet Nam, Siu Hoi Yan, and Wong Hoi Ying Sophia were honoured with Creativity Awards and were invited by the EDB to share their learning experiences, challenges encountered, and strategies to overcome difficulties while designing and producing a 3-D model on the livelihood of Shek Kip Mei Estate.

Award of Quiz on Korea 2023
Organized by the Korean Cultural Center in Hong Kong and supported by the Korean Studies Programme at The University of Hong Kong (HKU), the 'Quiz on Korea' competition for secondary school students was held on Nov 11, 2023 at HKU. A team of five S4 students, including Khoo Chanelle (4B), Kung Yat Tung Denise (4B), Lo Sze Wai (4A), Fu Tsz Kiu (4B), and Wong Tsun Sin (4C), enthusiastically participated in the event, demonstrating their knowledge of Korean culture by answering a variety of questions. Their remarkable effort earned them the well-deserved Third Prize.

Mentorship Orientation Programme
The Careers Committee and Alumnae Association successfully organized the Mentorship Orientation Programme at Silcocks Hall on November 11. This year marks the 20th anniversary of the programme, and we were delighted to welcome over 50 pairs of mentors and mentees who eagerly embraced the transformative journey ahead. We express heartfelt appreciation to Ms Judia Yue, who has been an invaluable part of this programme as both a mentor since 2003 and our Programme Coordinator since 2008. We extend our deep gratitude to all the mentors who selflessly devote their time and expertise to their alma mater, providing invaluable professional advice and guidance to our students, propelling them towards success and personal growth.
