Debate Champion

On 11 December 2014, Secondary Five debaters emerged as Champions of the Hong Kong Secondary School Debating Competition (Kowloon Senior Division 1). The team included novices as well as experienced debaters. The Team Leader is Phoebe Chan. Best Speakers in the respective matches were Kelly Lau, Ashling Chan and Esther Wong. The team’s achievement would not have been possible without the help of other debaters in the hosting, timekeeping and chairing in each round. We congratulate them and wish them all the best in the next series of matches.

Toastmasters Leadership Programme

The 6th December was a red letter day for participants of this year’s Toastmasters International Youth Leadership Programme. That morning, the Toastmasters Speech and Table Topics Contests were held in room 705-707. This annual event allows students from secondary two to four to demonstrate their communication and leadership skills. This year there were thirty-seven contestants, ten student workers and nine judges, one of whom was our principal, Mrs. Ruth Lee, while the others were from Toastmasters International (Hong Kong). OLE on Treasuring Life

With a clear mission and passion to teach students how to overcome adversities in life, Mr. Sin Ka Keung accepted our invitation to give a talk on November 28, 2014 and share about his ordeal after he was shot in the face and thigh during a gunfight in 2006. Now on the road to recovery, Mr Sin also reminded everyone to show filial piety. Mr. Tang How Kong, the former Senior Assistant Police Commissioner, who was also a guest speaker, touched our hearts with his unfailing support for a fellow officer in his time of need. Miss Nancy Fok was also on stage to express how she was moved to edit the book titled 死裏逃生 for Mr. Sin. Their brave acts and words impressed on us the importance of treasuring life.
