S5 Debate Activity 2023

S5 students enjoyed a spirted debate at the So Chau Yim Ping Memorial Hall of Breezy Path Campus, where two teams of debaters argued for their case on the motion of “This house believes that Hong Kong teenagers should do at least one part-time job during their secondary school years”.  The debaters made good use of their research materials and oratory skills to connect with the audience and convince the two adjudicators — Mr. Steven Cooley and Ms. Hannah Standring, both Regional Native English Teacher (NET) Coordinators of the Education Bureau’s NET Section.

In their deliberation, Mr. Cooley and Ms. Standring recognized the debaters’ effort in developing a coherent and logical case.  While both teams did an amazing job, the affirmative team was given the edge over the negative for more organized arguments and rebuttals.  Chan Yan Hei Yannis (5D) was named the best speaker of the debate.
