Speech Day 2023

The annual Speech Day was held on July 11 at the Silcocks Hall.  Our Principal, Mr Francis Kwan, welcomed parents and congratulated the graduates on their successful completion of their secondary school education.

Among the honorable guests was Reverend Wong Ka Fai (王家輝牧師), our IMC manager and the General Secretary of the Hong Kong Council of the Church of Christ in China.  In his inspiring address, he shared insights from Luke 18:1-18, urging students to persistently pray without giving up.  Reverend Wong emphasized the importance of sincere praying, following God’s will, understanding His perspective, cultivating gratitude, and persevering through failures.  He reminded everyone of their blessings and encouraged them to reflect on their weaknesses, fostering personal growth.  His impactful words motivated students to approach their futures with resilience, prayerfulness, and a sense of purpose.

Representing the graduating classes, Tam Yin Hing Katie (6D) delivered a heartfelt valedictorian speech.  She reflected on her personal journey, starting from the anticipation of the first day at Ying Wa, to confronting and triumphing over various challenges.  Katie emphasized the lessons she learned in resilience and the importance of upholding the Christian principles.  Grateful for the support of the school, parents, and friends throughout her time at Ying Wa, Katie made a promise on behalf of the graduates to live with integrity, passion, and the understanding that failures serve as stepping stones to success.

The Speech Day was further enlivened by our Chamber Choir, impressing the audience with their beautiful rendition of ‘And Sure Stars Shining.’  It was a fantastic evening filled with pride from students, staff, parents, and friends who all contributed to the success of the Speech Day.  We extend our best wishes to our graduates as they embark on their new journeys in life.
