Awards of the Dance Team in the 58th Schools Dance Festival

The Ying Wa Dance Team participated in the 58th Schools Dance Festival Video Mode Competition and achieved pleasing results.  Due to the pandemic, the organizer converted in-person competitions to videos for a balance between social distance measures and opportunities for dancers to engage in the competition.  The participants not only had a chance to showcase their creativity, but they also enhanced their understanding of cultures and built a stronger connection with the local artistic community. Lau Sum (6A) and Luo Elysia Songen (6C) Getting 5** in Five HKDSE Subjects (2022)

Congratulations to Lau Sum 劉心 (6A) and Luo Elysia Songen 羅頌恩 (6C) for getting 5** in five HKDSE subjects (2022)! Lau Sum - 5** in Chi, Eng, Math, Chi. Hist & Geog Luo Elysia Songen - 5** in Math, Phy, Chem, Bio & M2 They were each awarded $40,000 by The Yu Chu Lam Scholarship (庾柱林獎學金)  in recognition of their efforts and outstanding results.   Another student, Kwan Ning Shun (6C), got 5** in 4 subjects.  She was awarded $20,000 by The Yu Chu Lam Scholarship (庾柱林獎學金) .

Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship 2022

Chung Mo Ying Monita (Graduate of 2022) was awarded a full scholarship of the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship 2022 to study Business and Management at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.   The aim of the Multi-faceted Excellence Scholarship is to encourage universities and tertiary institutions to admit talented individuals who excel in sports, arts and / or community service.    Monita developed her passion for Chinese dance at the age of 6 and that earned her numerous championship and performance opportunities both here and abroad.

Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition – First Runner-up

Five S5 students from the STEM team participated in the “Social Innovation.Community 4.0 Competition” and won the First Runner-up.  The competition was organized by Hong Kong Council of Social Service.  This year, the organizer set the targeted community in Shum Shui Po.   Our team developed the project “Go-Goal-Po (深水耆跡)” in response to the theme of the contest –“Enhance Mental Health of Seniors for Better Self-esteem”.

Champion of the Interschool Tram+ NFT Hackathon 2022 (Secondary Section)

Three S3 students, Chan Bui Ka (3B), Leung Chi Yu (3B) and Chan Kei Ching Lavon (3E) won the Championship of the Interschool Tram+ NFT Hackathon 2022  (Secondary Section).  It was a STEM competition organized by Tramplus, a sister company of Hong Kong Tramways.  In the competition, participants had to attend a series of online workshops, hosted by industry exports and scholars.  They also had to design their own digital art piece.

STEM+E Competition 2022

85 secondary schools with more than 400 participants took part in the STEM+E Competition 2022.  Participants were required to form groups with students of other schools to develop a business proposal for a startup, using new technology and marketing strategies.  In the event, not only did students obtain a valuable chance of meeting startup founders and business consultants, but they also got to cooperate with others from different schools.

Prizes of the Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work (2021-22)

A number of students took part in the Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work (2021-22) organised by the Arts Education Section, Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau (EDB).  The exhibition aims to display and acknowledge students’ accomplishment in visual arts.  The prize presentation ceremony was held on June 14 and the following students were awarded with two prizes: Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work 2021/22 (Finalist) Hui Sum Yau Cynthia (3A), Chan Alexis (6C), Pang Tsz Ching Adria (6D) Senior Secondary Student Visual Arts Portfolios 2021/22

VTC STEM Challenge Cup

Three S3 students won the First Runner-up in the VTC STEM Challenge Cup.  The theme of the competition is “Smart Campus”.  Students had to propose and design an “E-steps” path at the school entrance to convert the kinetic energy from footsteps to electrical energy.  The electrical energy collected would be used to power up the lights and fans at the school entrance.  Not only does the design allow students to apply STEM knowledge, but it also helps students understand the importance of sustainability.
