Mrs Ruth Lee – The Award of JP

Congratulations to Mrs Ruth Lee, JP Mrs Ruth Lee Shek Yuk Yu (李石玉如女士) , 7th principal of YWGS, was awarded as Justice of the Peace (JP) by the HKSAR with effect from 1 September 2015 in recognition of her outstanding service to the society. The news was released in the press.

Our aspiring writers

Congratulations to Cheung Chun Lam (5B), Wong Kin Man (5C) and Phoebe Chan (5E)! They won the WYNG-Philomathia Essay Contest and recently returned from a trip to Trinity Hall at Cambridge University. This annual writing competition is adjudicated by the university, and co-organized by WYNG Foundation, Philomathia Foundation and Hong Kong Association of Careers Masters and Guidance Masters. Participants write a 1000-word English essay on the theme of the WMA photography competition called 2013 – Air. In addition, Cheung Chun Lam won a 1000-word Chinese essay competition held by Hong Kong Baptist University to identify young aspiring writers in Hong Kong. Well done!

S1 Briefing Session 2015

Over 160 new members were welcomed into the Ying Wa family on 26 August. The first students to be greeted by our new principal this academic year, they also met their Class Teachers, Big Sisters, the Discipline and Guidance Committees who took them through the school's history, core values, like compassion and altruism, the significance of the school song. New students also learned about the opportunities for personal growth they are going to enjoy, such as the High Event, the Mrs Katherine Chau Scholarship, and the support network in place to ease all new students' transition to secondary school.

籃球隊台灣集訓團

八月初本校籃球隊到台灣進行八天集訓,拜訪了普門中學及三民家商兩隊球隊,除了跟他們一起訓練外並進行多場友誼賽,更有機會觀賞佛光盃國際大學籃球邀請賽,令隊員獲益良多。

Volleyball Team's Summer Exposure

Our volleyball team went to Xuzhou, China, for the CSSF National Senior School Girls' Volleyball Tournament during the summer holiday. Representing our school were Ying Wa Teams 1 and 2. After a week of competing with different Chinese teams, ours were placed 32nd and 35th. We received the 'Outstanding Sportsmanship Award' and our head coaches, Miss Chow and Miss Chui, won the 'Outstanding Coach Award'. Seven of our schoolmates were named 'Outstanding Athletes' of the tournament.
