The Citizenship & Social Development (CSD) Department was very excited to have invited alumna Ms Charlize Narag (S6 graduate of 2021) to share the Filipino culture with classes 4A and 4C on June 26. Have a Filipino origin, Charlize was born and raised in Hong Kong. She shared how she struggled with her confusing senses of identity as a teenager and how she finally came to embrace her multiple identities now. She prides herself as being the sole translator for her family and she enjoys this unique role. 26th Anniversary of the Establishment of HKSAR (National Flag Hoisting Ceremony)
The National Flag Hoisting Ceremony was held on June 26, 2023 to celebrate the 26th Anniversary of the Establishment of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) of the People’s Republic of China. The Civic Education Committee chose the theme “The Challenges and Opportunities of the HKSAR in 2023” to foster students’ sense of national identity. During the ceremony, two Secondary 3 students discussed the impact of COVID-19 in Putonghua on various aspects of Hong Kong society, including its economy and unemployment rate.

Wellness Week & Sharing at the EDB
“Wellness Week”, held from February 20 to 24, 2023, was organized by the Guidance Committee in order to prioritize students’ mental health, foster positive emotions and thinking, and train student leaders to deliver constructive messages. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 8 voluntary assistants from the Guidance Committee, alongside the Head and Deputy Head Prefects. Throughout the week dedicated to wellness, student leaders organised engaging activities such as talks, interactive games and other expressive mediums to encourage mindfulness, to facilitate open expression of feelings and to promote empathy towards others.

Awards of the Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work 2022/23
The Visual Arts Department participated in the Exhibition of Student Visual Arts Work 2022/23, organized by the Curriculum Development Institute of the Education Bureau. The exhibition aims to display and acknowledge students’ accomplishments in visual arts. The award presentation ceremony was held on June 14.

Sister School Scheme
We are delighted to announce that in late May, our Principal, Mr. Francis Kwan, traveled to Beijing to sign a contract with Peking University Affiliated Secondary School (北京大学附属中学), marking a significant milestone in our Sister School Scheme (姊妹學校計劃). In addition, in June, we conducted online meetings to finalize agreements with two other esteemed schools: No. 2 High School Attached to East China Normal University (华东师范大学第二附属中学) and Shanghai Kong Jiang Senior High School (上海市控江中学).

In an exciting and momentous occasion, our school had the privilege of welcoming a distinguished delegation from the Council for World Mission (CWM) on 5 June 2023. This esteemed delegation holds a deep and special connection to our school's founding roots, as they are closely tied to the esteemed London Missionary Society (LMS).

Harvard Book Prize 2023
Three of our S5 students, Cheung Tsz Yan (5A), Lau Hok Yau (5D), and Ching Wing Yin (5E) received the Harvard Book Prize 2023. This honor is awarded to exceptional secondary school students in Hong Kong who have demonstrated academic excellence, exemplary character, and a commitment to community service.

Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2022/23
The Student Association (SA) was honored with the Outstanding Student Association Award and Award for Values Education by the esteemed “Hong Kong Student Association Award Scheme 2022/23” presented by Hok Yau Club. Emerging as one of the four exceptional schools in Hong Kong to win the Outstanding Student Association Award, the SA was commended for their remarkable skills in youth leadership. Moreover, the Award for Values Education recognized the effort devoted during the Thanksgiving Week to hold various activities in November 2022.
