A Visit to Mil Mill Recycling Centre (S3)

The Geography Department organized a visit to Mil Mill Recycling Centre for 30 S3 students on December 16, 2022.  Mil Mill is the first pulp mill and education centre that recycles beverage cartons in Hong Kong.  In the visit, not only did students learn about the daily recycling operation in the industry, but they also had the opportunity to engage in a recycled paper-making workshop.  Students developed a deeper understanding towards the recycling process of beverage cartons in Hong Kong and the essences of forest resource management.  It is our hope that students could adopt a green lifestyle so that sustainability can be attained.

Talk by Dr. Michael Rivera on Forensic Anthropology

The English Department was delighted to have invited Dr. Michael Rivera, who is the one and only Biological Anthropologist in Hong Kong, to speak to our S5 students about his profession.  Dr. Rivera is a graduate from the University of Cambridge and is currently teaching at the University of Hong Kong.

Through Dr. Rivera’s engaging talk, students were introduced to the fascinating field of forensic anthropology and how they make use of skeletal analysis and archaeological techniques in a variety of situations like criminal cases and humanitarian crises.  They also learnt some interesting facts about bones – particularly the wealth of information within them that can help determine one’s age, gender, ancestry, and much more.

Dear alumnae and friends of Ying Wa,

With 2022 coming to a close and a fresh new year about to unfold, it is once again time to reflect on the past year and give praise to our wonderful God for his abundant grace. As reminded by the scripture in James 1:17, “Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.”
