Vivien CHIU – 1 Gold & 2 Silver Medals in ACC

1819 Choral Speaking Champion

3E received 1st place at the Choral Speaking Secondary 3 Girls Competition on 13 December with the performance of the poem “Of Course There was Nobody There” by Janis Priestly.  It was a particularly special victory as the Hong Kong School Speech Festival celebrated its 70th anniversary.  The adjudicator, Rosalind Taylor, commended the girls on their discipline and teamwork.  In the morning assembly of 19 December, they were invited to perform to their fellow schoolmates.  Teachers and students enjoyed the performance and their hard work was highly appreciated.

Achievements of School Teams

Our school teams have been busy with various tournaments this term and our spirits were greatly lifted by their achievements.  In early December, our Volleyball Team entered the Inter-school Volleyball Competition (Division 1, Grade A) and emerged as the Second Runner-up.  Moreover, our Basketball Team became the First Runner-up in the Inter-school Basketball Competition (Division 1, Grade A) in late November.  Their perseverance and passion to strive for the best are highly appreciated.  Thumbs up for their outstanding performance!Sources of Photos: HK01 (Basketball Team...

Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme 2018/19

YIP Pui Lam, a Ying Wa graduate of 2018, has been recently awarded the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme 2018/19 (offered by the Education Bureau).  The scholarship supports outstanding local students to pursue their studies in world-renowned universities outside Hong Kong, with a view to grooming a top cadre of talents with global visions, international networks and world-class education.  Pui Lam will be studying the Bachelor of Laws at the University College London.Link to website (Click)

HLYA Programme - Champion - Tour to Tokyo

Thanks to the guidance of the Careers Committee, a team of six Secondary 5 girls Hang Lung Young Architects (HLYA) Programme completed from October 2017 to June 2018.  They went through different rounds of competitions and were finally awarded the champion.  The winning team and Ms. Yip Ngar Sze, the teacher in-charge of Ying Wa, were offered the opportunity to go to Tokyo, from 19th to 22nd August, to further broaden their horizons.  In the tour, they learnt from a wide variety of topics, ranging from Japanese architecture to the local culture of Japan.  The tour was...

接龍小說得獎小作家 書展分享創作經驗

2017至2018學年接龍小說比賽冠軍隊伍為:周海銘(五乙)、伍穎彤(五乙)、施穎珺(五乙)、鄭淯之(五丙)。四位小作家在香港書展分享創作《從此以後》的經驗。作品講述90年代上海一條弄堂發生的事情:一群面對高考的學生,在家庭、學業、友情及愛情方面跌撞摸索,最終克服困難,走上康莊大道。四位小作家感謝家長、校友、師生到場打氣,給予支持和鼓勵。

第三十五屆全國青少年信息學奧林匹克競賽(NOI 2018)

陳緯慈同學 (六丙班) 於二零一七年十二月參加香港電腦奧林匹克競賽決賽,獲得高級組銅獎。陳緯慈獲邀接受一連串密集訓練,且以優異表現被選為香港代表,並於二零一八年七月十六至廿二日參加在湖南長沙舉行的全國青少年信息學奧林匹克競賽(NOI 2018)。四百七十名參賽者來自港澳兩地及全國三十一個省區,各選手須於指定時間內編寫程式及解決難題,難度極高。香港六位選手表現出色,得到近十年來參賽的最佳成績(一銀四銅)。陳緯慈能夠跟全國選手互相切磋,獲益良多。

Hong Kong Secondary School Debating Competition Term 2 District Finals

Our S4 team emerged as champions at the Hong Kong Secondary School Debating Competition (Standard Format) - Hong Kong and Kowloon Division 1 District Final – on 29 June 2018 while our S5 team also won their match in the Kowloon Senior Division 1 Enhanced Format Championship on 9 July 2018.  The motion of the Term 2 Finals was this House believes that short term volunteering in developing countries by youth from developed regions is beneficial.
