National Flag Hoisting Ceremony
In a solemn ceremony, teachers and students of Ying Wa Girls' School gathered on 28 September for the hoisting of the national flag, marking the 67th anniversary of the motherland. The Civic Education Committee invited students to share their thoughts on the 150th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen's birthday. Dr. Sun, the founding father of the republic rule in China, developed his democratic thoughts and political career in Hong Kong in the late 19th and early 20th century. Students were inspired and motivated to learn more about the role of Hong Kong in China's modernization.

CCC Education Sunday 2016
Hop Yat Church, Bonham Road
"Write thy name upon my heart, Jesus, Savior of mankind. Teach me charity unfailing, teach me compassion, Lord, like thine. Endow my soul with loving kindness; make me even as thou art; engrave thine image in my countenance, write thy name upon my heart ….”
With the lyrics of Write Thy Name Upon My Heart by Sally DeFord, our school choir and the women's choir of Hop Yat Church dedicated their angelic voices to God on 18th September 2016 as part of the Education Sunday Service at The Church of Christ of China (CCC). Our girls treasured this first collaboration with the women's choir and were inspired to serve the Lord with humility and devotion.

SA and Inter-house Elections
It is the noble tradition of Ying Wa to provide a platform for students to develop their potential to serve the school and become student leaders. This year a group of 19 enthusiastic students formed a cabinet called "Orenda" and came up with an election slogan "Unearth Your Potential". With their passion to serve their schoolmates, they encourage their peers to step out of the comfort zone and be more actively involved in the community.
An independent team of the Hogben House, "Plumeria", joined the Inter-house election campaign with the proposed cabinet, Nota. Elections were held on 14 September and a united cabinet of the Inter-house Committee emerged.
